He resides with his loving wife in Lloyd Harbor, close to New York City. The community of Lloyd Harbor is found in the American state of New York's Suffolk County, specifically in the town of Huntington. It is about 40 miles east of New York City on Long Island's north shore. The village is home to about 3,500 people and is about 10 square miles in size.
Many of Lloyd Harbor's most well-known features are large estates and mansions, a historic lighthouse, and gorgeous sights of the Long Island Sound. Caumsett State Park, spanning over 1,500 acres and featuring many trails, beaches, and a nature preserve, is situated in the village. The West Neck Beach and Lloyd Harbor Village Park are popular outdoor recreation spots.
Invasion of Kuwait
Due to his extensive network of contacts in the U.S. and his close relationship with the American people, Kutayba is uniquely positioned to be a major figure for his native country. He began work at the request and blessing of the late Amir, H.H. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah.
Taking the opportunity, Kutayba created the plan to win U.S. support for Kuwait's freedom. One of these cases involved putting Kuwait's officials in touch with one of the leading American PR companies. He was well aware that without the hearts and minds of the American people, the U.S. government could not support anything, not even a just cause. By appealing to the feelings of the American people, he convinced those around him to begin a strong P.R. campaign.
As part of this plan, Kuwait was able to present its situation to the outside world more effectively. He simultaneously reached out to everyone in his personal network, using his power to convince the American private sector to support Kuwait's independence.
He became free on February 26, 1991, thanks to one of the biggest coalitions in history, headed by the United States. He reflects on this occasion with great pride and satisfaction in what he and his fellow citizens achieved.
Looking to the Future
As the chairman of Alghanim Industries, he is in charge of developing the growth plan and vision for one of the biggest privately held businesses in the area.
Although he is happy with Alghanim Industries' notable progress, he feels that education is the key to the future of Kuwait's and the region's people, who are the true wealth. The Alghanim family and Alghanim Industries have a rich tradition that includes providing high-quality education. According to Kutayba, access to high-quality education will help Kuwait and the region around it create a sustainable society that is not dependent on oil as the main source of economic growth.
This is not just a Kuwaiti perspective. He constructed a famous library on the campus of Birzeit University in Palestine as a memorial to his father. His family home was built in the past and was turned into an orphanage in Lebanon, not far from Beirut. For these kids to get excellent schooling and form lasting connections outside of their new home, Kutayba demanded that they attend schools with other locals.
He is dedicated to setting up educational opportunities to promote innovation and help Kuwait and the region produce the best local talent to manage businesses, expand into new areas of activity, and diversify the economy from being totally reliant on hydrocarbons. He has personally witnessed the power of ideas in his own life and at Alghanim Industries.
