Lamelo Ball's parents were college basketball players. His father trained him in basketball. Ball joined his siblings on the Big Ballers VXT, a 17-and-under Amateur Athletic Union team that his parents started and coached. Ball began his basketball career as a student at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California. In his debut, Ball made 27 points as a starter.
