Early Life

Gordon James Ramsay, the son of Gordon James Sr., a shopkeeper, welder, and swimming pool manager, and Helen, a nurse, was born in Johnstone, Scotland, on November 8, 1966. He has a younger brother, a younger sister, and an elder sister. He went to England with his family when he was nine years old, where he was raised in the Stratford-upon-Avon neighbourhood of Bishopton.

He said that his early years were "hopelessly itinerant," his family moved around a lot because of his father's ambitions and weaknesses. His father was a violent, often violent, drinker; Ramsay called him a "hard-drinking womaniser." He disclosed in his autobiography that his father mistreated and ignored the kids.

His sister was a waitress at a nearby Indian restaurant, where he was employed as a pot washer. At the age of 12, he was initially selected to play under-14 football, fulfilling his dream of becoming a football player. However, his early football career was ruined by injuries, and he was forced to give it up following a serious knee injury. When he was sixteen, he moved out of the family house and into a flat in Banbury.
