Jeselnik relocated to Los Angeles in his early twenties and started doing stand-up while working at Borders in the early 2000s. It was during his employment at Borders that he discovered a book written by comic Greg Dean and learned about his comedy courses held in Santa Monica.

When no one smiled at his first joke—which was an impersonation of his dad getting stung by wasps—Anthony realized that physical comedy wasn't for him. Jeselnik worked as an accounting clerk at Deadwood after losing his position at Borders, and he also did open mic nights.

He experienced an inspirational moment two years into his stand-up comedy career when audiences responded favorably to a dark joke. The quip, "My girlfriend loves to eat chocolate," was eventually used on his debut album, "Shakespeare."

After making his TV debut on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" in 2006, Jeselnik went on to appear on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Down and Dirty with Jim Norton" in 2008.

For the first forty minutes of the hour-long show, Jeselnik delivers his signature dark humor; the final twenty minutes are devoted to personal experiences.
