As a free agent in 1992, Barry received offers from various MLB teams. He turned down The Yankees $40 million offer to play for them. Barry and the Giants agreed to a six-year, $43.75 million deal with a $2.5 million signing bonus during a lengthy 40-hour debate.

Real Estate

Barry paid $5.3 million in 2000 for an amazing brand-new property on over two acres in the gated community of Beverly Park, high in the Beverly Hills. In 2014, he sold the house to a Russian oligarch for an unbelievable $22 million. A year later, the millionaire offered to flip the property for $36 million; in the end, he took $26 million in 2016.

Biography and Personal Life

In August 1987, Bonds went to Montreal, Quebec, to meet Susann Margreth Branco, the mother of his first two children, Shikari and Nikolai. Feb. 5, 1988, they eloped to Las Vegas. The couple was divorced in December 1994 after breaking up in June 1994, and the Catholic Church overruled their marriage in 1997.

Due to Bond’s request that his Swedish wife sign a prenuptial agreement in which she "waived her right to a share of his present and future earnings" which was upheld the divorce became heavily reported. At the time of the decision, Bonds was paying his wife $10,000 in spousal support and $20,000 in child support each month.

In an overwhelming decision on August 21, 2000, the Supreme Court of California said "Significant evidence supports the determination of the trial court that the agreement in the present case was entered into voluntarily." Chief Justice Ronald M. George signed the opinion.
