Georges St-Pierre Net Worth 2024

With an estimated net worth of $20 million, he is undoubtedly among the wealthiest people in the mixed martial arts community.

Throughout his career, GSP received many awards and honors. The UFC Hall of Fame honored him in 2020, and he was voted Canadian Athlete of the Year. Georges has accomplished more than most boxers can ever hope to.

Early Life

In 1981, in Saint-Isidore, Quebec, Georges St-Pierre was born. St-Pierre had a rough childhood. He went to a school where people stole his clothes and money. He continuously faced bullying during his school life, even though he participated in a variety of sports as a child.

He has been training in martial arts since he was seven years old in order to protect himself from school bullies. St-Pierre had obtained a second dan black belt in Kyokushin Karate by the time he was twelve years old.

After his karate instructor passed away four years later, he started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, and wrestling. It wasn't cheap to learn different martial arts, so Georges had jobs as a security guard at the bar and a garbage collector to pay for his education. He was ready to fight professionally by the age of 20.

Career

Georges had a successful UFC debut at UFC 46 against Karo Parisyan and a TKO victory against Jay Hieron at UFC 48. GSP's first setback, however, came at the hands of Matt Hughes after tapping out due to an armbar.

At UFC 65, Matt Hughes and GSP fought off once more in a match for the Welterweight Championship. Georges beat Hughes with a TKO in the second round after dominating the first. Sadly, not long after, at UFC 69, St-Pierre would lose to Matt Serra for the second time in his career.

At UFC 83, GSP was given a rematch with Matt Serra and won the fight via dominant TKO. After controversially defeating B.J. Penn in a fight ruined by rumors that GSP's manager had unlawfully applied petroleum jelly to his back to make him more difficult to hold, GSP went on to defend his title against Jon Fitch.

After that, St-Pierre faced opponents like Nick Diaz, Dan Hardy, Jake Shields, Carlos Condit, Thiago Alves, and Johnny Hendricks to defend his welterweight championship. GSP resigned his welterweight title in 2013 and stated he would be taking a break from the UFC until his return in 2017.

He defeated Michael Bisping in the third round of their middleweight championship fight that year. In 2020, after failing several matches, the great MMA player Georges announced his formal retirement from the UFC.

Personal Life

St-Pierre established the GSP Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the mission of preventing bullying and promoting young sports participation. In interviews, St-Pierre has discussed mental illness. He has said that he was in some kind of depression when he took his first retirement and that he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder.

He said his OCD helped him succeed. The kanji of jujutsu is tattooed on St-Pierre's left side of his chest. Additionally, St-Pierre has a tattoo of a fleur-de-lis on his right calf.
