Why Khabib Was So Successful in MMA?

MMA or mixed martial arts originated in Brazil and was brought into the United States in the 90s where it gained popularity. Naturally, it was either Europeans or Brazilians who claimed fame while mastering the techniques. However, Khabib was about to prove them wrong.

Khabib practiced Sambo. A Russian martial arts form that was founded in 1920 to help the Russian Army improve hand-to-hand combat skills and improve their stamina. This style of fighting was adopted by Khabib and he perfected it to absolute perfection.

Since Sambo's fighting style is based on control, leverage and submission, Khabib mastered the art of grappling and training at a high altitude gave him the strength and conditioning that is impossible for others to train at a normal altitude.

Once he is on top of his opponents, he assumes complete control. While he controls their arms and legs, he applies relentless pressure to exhaust them physically and mentally while pounding them heavily from close range. His huge success is mostly attributed to his ground game rather than his striking force.

The brawl started and once the dust settled, both parties were fined heavily and were banned from UFC for months.

Retirement

Khabib was absolutely on top of his game and was defending titles left right and centre when suddenly his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomadov caught Coronavirus in his native town. He was rushed to a major hospital and was later transported to Moscow in a private jet but passed away due to further complications.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomadov was not just Khabib’s father. He was his mentor, coach, manager, and a beacon of light for his son. He had been accompanying his son since he was a toddler and it was difficult for Khabib to continue visiting the octagon without his father. However, since he was committed professionally, He, with his mother’s permission, came to the octagon one last time and fought Justin Gathje and threw down his gloves once he won that fight and retired.

He was included in the UFC hall of Fame and retired undefeated maintaining the perfect record of 29-0.
