The grandfather of Booker's mother is Mexican. Devin is the only child of former professional basketball player Melvin Booker. Booker's parents are point guard Melvin Booker, who won Missouri's 1994 Big Eight Player of the Year, and cosmetologist Veronica Gutierrez. In Grand Rapids, Michigan, the hometown of Gutierrez, his father played basketball for the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association. His parents first got together in this way.
