Early Life

When Steve Austin was around 1 year old, his parents, Beverly and James Anderson, parted ways. After his mother married Ken Williams in 1968, they relocated to Edna, Texas, where Austin would spend the majority of his early years.

After being legally adopted, Austin took on his stepfather's identity and officially changed his name to Steven James Williams. Later in life, he would legally alter it again to Steve Austin. He has three brothers, Scott, Kevin, and Jeff, and a younger sister, Jennifer.

When Austin was 7 or 8 years old, he fell in love with the wrestling profession. Austin would later recall that the first wrestling matches he saw were organized by Houston Wrestling and managed by Paul Boesch. My dream job was to become a professional wrestler.

Wrestling Career

In May 1991, Austin made his World Championship Wrestling start. He was given the nickname "Stunning" Steve Austin, a title and persona he eventually claimed he was unable to accept. On June 3, 1991, just a few weeks after making his debut, Austin beat Bobby Eaton to win the WCW World Television Title.

Austin won the WCW United States Championship at Starrcade in December 1993 by defeating Dustin Rhodes 2-0 in a two-out-of-three falls match. Austin was defeated by Ricky Steamboat for the Championship at Clash of the Champions XXVIII in August 1994.

Austin made his ECW debut on September 18, 1995, at Gangstas Paradise. Austin used ECW as a platform to build his character that would later become "Stone Cold" and to conduct a series of vignettes criticizing Bischoff and WCW in general, most famously in multiple promos.
